 Burgruine Neunußberg
|
Geiersthal-Altnußberg (old farming village; originally family seat of the house ‚Nußberger’, the castles grounds were excavated in 1984/85 and partially renovated). Continue to Ayrhof – B85 to Viechtach – Blossersberg – Wiesing - Neuneußberg (Castle Ruins Neunußberg, Castle of the knight family ‘Nußberger’ with viewing tower). Return to Wiesing, then in the direction of Arnbruck. At the local sport airfield in Arnbruck there is an opportunity for sightseeing flights.
Recommendable: Arnbruck- Drachselsried – Grafenried- Asbach (scenic village with an excellent opportunity for a stop by at the inn/Berggasthof) – Gumpenried –Geiersthal.

Sankt Englmar (mountain village at a height of 850 m; in winter ski area with several lifts up the mountains Pröller and Predigtstuhl; traditional Englmarisuchen (Englmari-search) on Whit Monday) - Grün (summer toboggan run with a length of 1000 m) - Klinglbach - Kolmberg - Nösling- Rechertsried - Viechtach - Geiersthal.

Kaikenried - Arnetsried - B 85 - Regen (annual Pichelsteiner-Folk-Festival in July, lovely parish church and great shopping facilities) - Weißenstein (well-preserved castle ruin with viewing tower from the 11th century; second home of the poet Siegfried von Vegesack. The castle Weißenstein was built on the rock formation ‚Pfahl’ towering up to a height of 100 m; ‘Gläserner Wald’ (Glass forest with trees made from glass) on the castle grounds). Böbrach - Bodenmais (numerous shopping facilities, glass industry, major tourist centre in the Bavarian Forest) – Lake Arber (boat rental, Fairy-tale Forest) - Großer Arber (gondola cableway, ascent of the peak, mountain guesthouse) – return via Bayerisch Eisenstein (national border to CSSR) - Zwiesel (local museum, toy museum) , perhaps side-trip to Lindberg (farmhouse-museum). Regen - Arnetsried - Kaikenried - Geiersthal.

Passau (three-river-boat rides, Stephan’s Cathedral with the largest church organ in the world, organ concerts from mid of May to September on weekdays at 11.30 am). Veste Oberhaus fortress with museum (most impressive panorama over the city, votive church, pilgrimage church Mariahilf and plenty of further places of interest, highly recommended). Border checkpoint to Austria Achleiten. The trip to Linz by car or ship is worthwhile. If you prefer to go straight to Passau, you can drive via Deggendorf (from there on the motorway) to Passau.
